Instead of working a 9-5 job, hating my commute to work and wearing fancy clothes. I roll out of bed, brew up a cup of coffee, head to the barn, flip on the lights and greet the girls for morning milking.
You never know what they day will bring on the farm but everyday is challenging and exhausting yet oddly satisfying. I milk a 60 head (and growing) herd in a double 6 herringbone swing parlor. I have about 60 young stock as well.
When you come to the farm for a stay, you can have as much or as little interaction with us as you want. Guests are more than welcome to be included in all things on the dairy farm. If you prefer privacy, I respect that. Just know that I am always available should you need anything while you are here. You can always get me by phone throughout the day.
In fact spectacular!
View and Moos was in fact spectacular! Stayed there for a ski trip with a couple buddies and it was perfect. The house was spotless and very welcoming with EVERYTHING you could want/need in a house including a basket of goodies, Advil, and tea and coffee. Dan was incredibly hospitable and helpful and had the Info we needed. He responded very quickly to our messages and even stopped by to see if we needed anything. Overall, 10/10 experience and we hope to stay here again!
A great place to experience
Mountain View Dairy is delightful, a great place to experience what life is like on a dairy farm, and Angela and Dan the cheerful obliging owners are happy to let you. The farm is located in a gorgeous setting, perched at the top of beautiful knoll surrounded by pastures and overlooking the Catskills. During our visit the scene was ablaze in fall color. The accommodations are maximally practical (so come prepared for farm life); spacious enough to accommodate a party of 6, but cozy enough for 1 or 2. The beds are comfy; there are cards and games, Wi-Fi, and a large screen TV with Roku. There are views of “the cows in the meadows” from every window. The big plus is that you can visit the “girls” – Star, Epic, Violet, Journey, Naomi -- all 50 of the ladies in the fields, being milked, while they eat. Whether you are 3-or-83, Mountain View Dairy is ideal for a destination visit or stopover. It is the most interesting Airbnb that I have visited; I encourage you to stay here.
Book This Farmstay
Book this Farm Stay! The farm is absolutely beautiful! We could smell the sweet hay and the views were spectacular. You have got to check out the stars at night! The home is SO clean and we had everything we needed and more. It’s especially great for little ones as a crib, and many other baby essentials were provided. My family really enjoyed touring the farm and I fell in love with those cows! They all have different personalities and Angela tells the best stories about them. The whole farm is beautiful but the view from the top of the hill was simply breathtaking. Dan is fantastic to and my 5 year old loved learning about the tractors! I also suggest taking them up on the delicious fresh food available for purchase. We had a very yummy affordable farm to table meal and the veggies and pork chops were delivered right to our table... literally. We will be back and I suggest you book a visit. The hospitality is unmatched.
